Tonic Tables from Watson Furniture
On a 2010 European trip the Watson furniture designers observed strangers connecting with each other at common tables in the cafes of Amsterdam. And they got it: the reason our clients had been asking us to convert our desks to benches was so their people would connect. Many organizations believe that benching environments encourage connectivity and knowledge transfer. Mentoring is easier in more open environments, with a bench being the most open of all.
Tonic's Simple Table Design Ignites Innovation - Tonic was designed for clients who are moving to benching and want a more agile work environment. Simple and clean in design, Tonic is built with the quality that is distinctively Watson. Tonic is a large bench table, but it is also a collection of small meeting tables that celebrate innovation. With a clamp-on video conferencing module, a table can be turned into an active hub. Circular innovation tables may be specified with flush-mounted rotating whiteboard centers that inject a sense of collaboration into brainstorming. Table sizes range from 48" square and round up to 4' x 8' in a single surface. Tonic's benching tables have larger length and width options.

Tonic Advanced Technology Conference Table
For the
twenty-first century boardroom or large project team spaces, Watson's
expansive conference tables provide space to gather to discuss today's
agenda, or collaborate the progress of a project. The Tonic series of
meeting tables provide center channel access to all the power, data, USB
charging ports, and video connections (e.g. HDMI, VGA, Display Port)
your team needs to be as productive as possible.
Tech-Friendly - Tonic offers a natural and easy place for video conferencing or media display. Media Fill can be docked at the team Conference End or at intervals along the center deck for larger meeting functions. The media infill contains four easy-access outlets on its face and accommodates a wiring chase through the housing.
Media Fill and Media Fast - Give technology a seat at the table. Media display is available in both infill and portable clamp-on versions. Attach Media Fast to most Watson tables or worksurfaces and use its cable management clamp to cleanly route data and power beneath the table. A 7" x 14" routing box backs up the display with plenty of space for cables and connectors, and an optional lock keeps it all secure.
- Legs - Simple Tables are supported by 4- 1 x 21/2 inch steel tube legs that are mounted directly to the underside of the worksurface.
- Worksurface - Surfaces are composed of high-pressure plastic laminate and backing sheets bonded to either a 27mm double refined MDF edged with a waterbased sealer or 1 1/8 inch industrial grade particleboard edged with thermally fused polymer edge banding. Where necessary, surfaces are reinforced with a 1 inch steel tube.
- Standard Natural 90 U Edge. Upgrade edge profiles are available.
- Rotating Center - Rotating Center surface is supported with a smooth running 12 inch diameter machined aluminum lazy-susan with steel ball bearings.

Power Full & Data Rich
Unfettered access and abundant capacity describes Tonic power and data. Choose between 8 and 16 outlets per segment, and separate facility and user power access using Tonic's above - and below - worksurface access ports. Tonic's Data Bay is a four lane freeway for lay-in cable management, employing removable slats for tucking cables away neatly. Termination at up to eight data plate knock outs per segment is easy and secure. Tonic even has a single circuit plug-in option for those who can't wait to get connected.
Factory-assembled power cartridges simply drop into place at installation, and modular connectors distribute power between segments. Hard-wire from a wall, floor, or ceiling interface for four-circuit power, or supply a single circuit with Tonic's simple plug-in option

Features
Watson Seven | Worksurface & Table Design
Watson - The CompanyWatson Furniture is a nationally-distributed US manufacturer of European-inspired office furnishings. Watson offers a broad range of modular, free-standing products that embody the principles of adjustability, space-efficient shapes, and design for emergent technologies. Utilizing materials with high recycled content and low emissions, Watson Desking provides furniture solutions that can help customers meet their own environmental initiatives, including LEED certification.
CONSTRUCTION WASTE MANAGEMENT
- Watson Desking products are protected during shipping with reusable blankets and wood pallets that are either returned to the factory or retained by the delivery company. This diverts construction debris from the project site, and allows the packaging to either be recycled or reused by the manufacturer.
REGIONAL MATERIALS
- Projects within 500 miles from our manufacturing facility in Poulsbo, WA, benefit from our location and use of regionally sourced materials.
RAPIDLY RENEWABLE MATERIALS
- The Watson Studio design modification process can be used to specify core and surface materials meeting the 10 year maximum harvest cycle for this credit.
CERTIFIED WOOD
- All Watson Desking board suppliers participate in the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI), as well as provide material certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). LEED projects seeking this credit can specify FSC certified core material through our Studio design process.
INNOVATION IN DESIGN
- Up to three LEED points can be earned for providing exceptional performance above LEED credit standards. Customers using the Watson Studio design modification process can specify products and materials that meet the design intent for this credit area.
REGIONAL PRIORITY CREDITS - LEED 2009 introduced this new area with the intent to highlight geographically important issues. These credits are not new, but rather existing credits within the rating systems and are specific to a project’s location, based on zip code (see usgbc.org). Projects earning any 4 of the 6 specified credits (1 bonus point each) can receive a total maximum of 4 points in this area.
